00:00:05.280 --> 00:00:07.919
Hi, welcome to the Armed Guardian Podcast.
00:00:08.160 --> 00:00:10.000
Season one, episode eight.
00:00:10.160 --> 00:00:17.679
Today, David and I will be discussing holiday gift ideas for your still carrier armed citizen in your family.
00:00:17.920 --> 00:00:24.640
So sit back, enjoy as we discussed and give you some ideas for that special someone in your life.
00:00:28.079 --> 00:00:29.600
Hey David, how are you doing, sir?
00:00:29.839 --> 00:00:30.640
Doing pretty good, Mr.
00:00:30.719 --> 00:00:31.039
Braun.
00:00:31.120 --> 00:00:31.839
How are you doing today?
00:00:31.920 --> 00:00:32.560
I'm doing good.
00:00:32.640 --> 00:00:33.119
I'm doing good.
00:00:33.280 --> 00:00:35.359
Have you started your holiday shopping yet?
00:00:35.600 --> 00:00:38.960
I haven't yet, but I will be very, very shortly here.
00:00:39.439 --> 00:00:42.560
Yeah, I I know some people are are great at it.
00:00:42.640 --> 00:00:44.479
Uh they plan it all year long.
00:00:44.560 --> 00:00:52.000
They start looking for the gifts on uh clearance after the current holiday season, and they start buying for the next year.
00:00:52.159 --> 00:00:54.159
But uh yeah, I'm in the same boat.
00:00:54.240 --> 00:01:00.799
I haven't started mine yet, and it looks like it's gonna be um something I'm gonna be doing quite periodically.
00:01:00.880 --> 00:01:06.319
I know from today's date uh while we're recording this, we've got five Fridays left before Christmas.
00:01:06.480 --> 00:01:09.599
So it's coming up quick.
00:01:09.840 --> 00:01:13.200
So today we're gonna talk about some holiday gift options.
00:01:13.359 --> 00:01:25.840
Um, we're gonna discuss uh several different things, and uh, I'll just go briefly discuss or list what we're gonna talk about, and then we'll uh go into a little bit of detail on each one.
00:01:26.000 --> 00:01:34.079
Um, so some things that you can consider for your uh loved ones for uh that are gun enthusiasts.
00:01:34.239 --> 00:01:49.519
Uh you've got holster options, you've got optics, lights, dry fire or training options, targets and shooting supplies, apparel, and then uh we'll end it up by talking about storage.
00:01:49.680 --> 00:01:55.439
Um these are just uh gonna be a quick episode uh just to kind of give you an idea.
00:01:56.079 --> 00:02:10.479
Got someone that's into firearms, and maybe you're not, and you want to surprise them, you know, show them that you're it you're you're interested in what they love and uh give you some ideas of something to consider for that loved one.
00:02:10.639 --> 00:02:19.039
So David, you want to you want to mention that you wanted to first talk about the holster, so you want to uh lead us off on a holster discussion?
00:02:19.759 --> 00:02:20.080
Yes.
00:02:20.319 --> 00:02:24.560
Um so just the general overview of holsters.
00:02:24.719 --> 00:02:39.439
Um you have your outside the waistband holsters, which basically you can wear on your hip, but some people like to wear them more towards the their back hip portion um covered outside the waistband.
00:02:39.680 --> 00:02:46.560
Uh those are most of the time open carry holsters, although you can conceal them with a shirt or something like that.
00:02:47.759 --> 00:02:52.000
If you if you do raise your arms, they will be no longer concealed.
00:02:52.159 --> 00:02:52.400
Right.
00:02:52.479 --> 00:02:52.560
Yeah.
00:02:52.719 --> 00:02:56.159
Um, then you have your inside the waistband holsters, gives you a little more concealment.
00:02:56.960 --> 00:03:04.879
Um also they're a little bit, but with that being said, they can be a little more uncomfortable depending on what kind you have.
00:03:04.960 --> 00:03:11.520
And like well, in all reality, I don't think I've ever found one that's been extremely comfortable.
00:03:11.599 --> 00:03:11.759
Yeah.
00:03:12.000 --> 00:03:16.719
But so that's those are your main two as far as waistband carry.
00:03:17.199 --> 00:03:29.680
Then you have uh shoulder carry, um, under the shoulder, think the old police movies from the 20s with the detectives or the you know, the untouchables, yeah, um, movies like that.
00:03:29.840 --> 00:03:32.879
Dirty Harry, they use the shoulder holster.
00:03:33.199 --> 00:03:33.680
Yeah.
00:03:33.919 --> 00:03:43.759
Um, also, you have ankle holsters and bag holsters, whether it be fanny pack, versus I'm not gonna go on and on right.
00:03:43.919 --> 00:03:48.400
I'm just giving you some ideas, some considerations when we're thinking about holsters.
00:03:48.639 --> 00:03:49.120
And Mr.
00:03:49.280 --> 00:03:54.319
Brian, if you want to chime in at any time on this, uh feel free to do so.
00:03:55.039 --> 00:03:57.360
But the kind of gun the person's carry.
00:03:57.520 --> 00:04:01.199
If you're getting a gift you need to and you want to get them a holster, you need to know what kind of gun they have.
00:04:01.360 --> 00:04:01.439
Right.
00:04:01.599 --> 00:04:06.000
Um, if they have a revolver and you buy them a semi-auto holster, it's probably not gonna fit.
00:04:06.080 --> 00:04:07.680
So it's not gonna look good.
00:04:08.400 --> 00:04:09.840
Know what kind of gun they have.
00:04:10.000 --> 00:04:20.639
Also, um, what kind of accessories nowadays everybody's putting accessories on their firearms, whether it be gun lights, lasers, optics, um, holographic sites.
00:04:20.800 --> 00:04:23.519
We'll talk about that in a little in a few minutes here.
00:04:23.600 --> 00:04:23.839
Yeah.
00:04:24.000 --> 00:04:30.079
Um, so thinking about those things, because if they have a lot, then the holster's gonna be different than if they don't have a lot.
00:04:30.160 --> 00:04:31.519
Yeah, same with optics.
00:04:31.680 --> 00:04:33.279
So anything you'd got to add to that, Mr.
00:04:33.439 --> 00:04:33.600
Brown?
00:04:33.920 --> 00:04:34.560
Yeah, uh no.
00:04:34.879 --> 00:04:46.639
We've we've already uh previously done a holster episode, but just to kind of you know talk about this, you know, we uh with the considerations, you want to think of what the person enjoys.
00:04:46.800 --> 00:04:47.920
Are they a leather person?
00:04:48.000 --> 00:04:49.680
Are they a kydex person?
00:04:49.759 --> 00:04:55.360
Uh they make outside the waistbands and all kydex, uh, are they make them in all leather?
00:04:55.519 --> 00:05:01.199
Uh know what your person that you're getting your gift for, you know, what they like.
00:05:01.279 --> 00:05:02.240
Do they prefer leather?
00:05:02.399 --> 00:05:06.319
Do they prefer kydex or a hybrid uh combination of them?
00:05:06.480 --> 00:05:11.519
So uh just just something else to think about, and then the security level of it.
00:05:11.600 --> 00:05:24.399
Do you want it uh where it's uh level zero tension held, or do you want some sort of type of uh securement, whether it be a snap, a um uh just a twist release or something like that?
00:05:24.480 --> 00:05:32.399
So just some can those are some other considerations for the holsters to think of whenever you're looking for a gift to somebody.
00:05:33.439 --> 00:05:36.959
So um, you got anything else on on the holsters?
00:05:37.120 --> 00:05:52.879
Like this is probably gonna be a quick uh just uh overview uh episode because we're not gonna go into detail, but we're just giving you guys some some options, some ideas to uh spark your interest and to get you thinking for your your loved ones and their uh their toys.
00:05:53.279 --> 00:05:56.560
Um yeah, we can talk about, and I guess now we can talk about optics.
00:05:56.639 --> 00:06:06.800
Okay, um, just a general overview on optics, and I'm not gonna cover everything, just just some of the main ones that people use today for self-defense hunting, stuff like that.
00:06:06.959 --> 00:06:07.279
Okay.
00:06:07.600 --> 00:06:09.600
Um and at least the different types.
00:06:09.759 --> 00:06:15.279
You have your red dot optics that just have a little red dot in the in the uh tube in the retricle.
00:06:15.360 --> 00:06:19.360
Um, most of the time they're not magnified, although you can get the magnifiers to go with them.
00:06:19.439 --> 00:06:21.120
That's a topic for another time.
00:06:21.360 --> 00:06:27.199
You've also got open and close open and closed emitters on your red dots, uh, especially for your pistols.
00:06:27.360 --> 00:06:35.519
Uh, then what those are the open emitters or the the little just got the glass and it's encased uh uh uh dirt.
00:06:35.680 --> 00:06:54.319
The downfall with those is uh dirt and water and stuff can affect the red dot, but if you get an enclosed red dot, it keeps uh everything sealed and you know it rain, dirt, stuff doesn't block out that red dot emitter that's on that optic.
00:06:54.720 --> 00:06:59.920
So that's something you need to consider as well, and that goes back to considering with your holster.
00:07:00.319 --> 00:07:02.879
So that's all I had on red dot there.
00:07:03.120 --> 00:07:21.040
Yeah, and then you have your your holographic, which are pretty much very similar to red dots, and then you have your laser um sites, and then you have your scopes, such as you know, your magnification, your scopes are actually magnified.
00:07:21.199 --> 00:07:24.319
Um there's all kinds of different magnifications.
00:07:24.399 --> 00:07:32.399
You can get them with fixed magnifications, yeah, such as they may be magnified three times or five times or or on up.
00:07:32.480 --> 00:07:38.000
But the majority of the ones we use today um are variable magnifications.
00:07:38.240 --> 00:07:42.800
Yeah, um, they go to different variances of of magnification power.
00:07:42.879 --> 00:07:47.519
You can get them pretty pretty big and pretty expensive to to relatively small.
00:07:48.319 --> 00:07:59.839
Um the popular one it seems with concealed carriers and or with um yeah, concealed carriers, home defense top situations would be the LVPOs.
00:08:00.240 --> 00:08:00.480
Right.
00:08:01.040 --> 00:08:09.519
Um they go from a one magnification up to pins, some go to four magnification, day magnification, six magnification, something along those lines.
00:08:09.680 --> 00:08:15.360
They make some of them I think go higher, but yeah, as a general rule, those are probably the more popular.
00:08:15.519 --> 00:08:16.079
Yeah.
00:08:16.319 --> 00:08:18.720
Um, so that's just a little bit on optics.
00:08:19.279 --> 00:08:51.279
Well, and something else on scopes that uh you know, if you're looking for your your hunter enthusiast, uh you know, you they've got the whole uh scopes where the the reticle inside is either uh plain, it's a a black reticle that pops up on there, or it's could be a lighted reticle, or either you have some of the scopes that have the night vision attachment, or a camera, actual camera where you can take pictures of the what's being viewed through the scope.
00:08:51.440 --> 00:09:24.720
So those are some others, those are a little bit on the higher end, but uh the lighted reticle inside the scope that uh those are pretty neat, uh, especially if you're shooting in a maybe not a dark time, a dark situation, but you know, uh a low light, you're out in the gear stand uh early in the morning or late at night as sun's setting and uh or rising, and you know it's kind of hard to see that uh overlaid black crosshairs and stuff on the on the reticle uh in those situations.
00:09:24.879 --> 00:09:31.039
So having that lighted reticle uh helps uh helps out quite a bit in those situations.
00:09:31.600 --> 00:09:32.480
Yes, absolutely.
00:09:32.639 --> 00:09:37.679
And once again, this is not uh this is a general overview on scope, but that's to give you an idea as you're looking at.
00:09:38.000 --> 00:09:43.919
I think the biggest thing is you know knowing what what the person you're looking to buy get for is interested in.
00:09:44.080 --> 00:09:44.320
Right.
00:09:44.480 --> 00:09:47.919
And then you know, make making the making decision on that accordingly.
00:09:48.080 --> 00:09:48.399
Yeah.
00:09:48.559 --> 00:09:49.039
Um, Mr.
00:09:49.120 --> 00:09:52.080
Bryan, is there anything that you would like to talk about on lights?
00:09:52.240 --> 00:09:55.039
Um, we've talked about lasers and optics, but lights.
00:09:55.279 --> 00:10:04.559
Yeah, uh no, you always have a uh always can carry a good light with you, and I actually would recommend carrying a small everyday carry uh light.
00:10:04.639 --> 00:10:25.840
Uh, we've briefly discussed these in an overview episode when we were talking about uh some options that we're gonna be discussing throughout uh some of our episodes down the road, but uh just a small palm-sized flashlight that has an in switch uh works real good for concealed carry.
00:10:26.240 --> 00:10:34.559
It uh bright enough, all you need is about uh 60 lumens is bright enough to do uh defensively.
00:10:34.720 --> 00:10:39.279
Uh, you can get them where they're three, six hundred, twelve hundred lumens.
00:10:39.440 --> 00:10:49.519
Uh as goes to the brightness, but uh most of your concealed everyday carry flashlights would be 60 to 120 lumens.
00:10:49.679 --> 00:11:02.080
So um that's something that you want to you you can get the brighter things, but they're not necessarily you know you don't necessarily have to have them, but just uh have having the different considerations.
00:11:02.240 --> 00:11:09.600
Uh also you're looking for lights, a lot of them for concealed carry will have different uh light strengths.
00:11:09.679 --> 00:11:18.480
Uh you know, they'll have a high, low, medium, uh, some of them will have strobe, just uh different features that each of the lights have.
00:11:18.639 --> 00:11:20.720
Um, is it a rechargeable light?
00:11:20.879 --> 00:11:22.879
Does it have a replaceable battery?
00:11:22.960 --> 00:11:27.039
Is it a double A, triple A, or uh lithium battery?
00:11:27.360 --> 00:11:30.799
Uh different brands out there.
00:11:30.960 --> 00:11:41.039
Uh, if you're looking for a weapon-mounted light for your rifle or even for your handgun, uh, are you looking how what type of light are you looking for?
00:11:41.200 --> 00:11:42.879
Does it fit your gun?
00:11:43.120 --> 00:11:46.240
Uh, what type of activation system are you looking for?
00:11:46.320 --> 00:11:51.279
Like on a pistol, does it have a switch or is it a pressure sensitive uh pad?
00:11:51.679 --> 00:11:53.600
Uh, same thing on your rifle.
00:11:53.759 --> 00:12:00.879
Is it a pressure switch uh sensitive switch where when you grab it, it turns on and release it, turn shuts off?
00:12:01.039 --> 00:12:04.399
So those are just some things to think about with the lights.
00:12:04.480 --> 00:12:08.240
Um, you got anything that you want to can't think of anything else.
00:12:08.559 --> 00:12:11.679
No, I think that pretty much much covers the overview, yeah.
00:12:11.840 --> 00:12:16.799
And then we'll talk about uh training, uh dry fire options.
00:12:16.879 --> 00:12:28.720
Uh they make uh cartridges that fit inside the firearm, both your rifles, shotguns, and um pistols that has an activated laser.
00:12:28.799 --> 00:12:41.919
So whenever the trigger is pressed, that it activates the laser, and you can use that on a target, uh you know, something that you're aiming at to check your uh accuracy, your sight picture and sight alignments.
00:12:42.000 --> 00:12:46.799
Uh that helps a whole lot also with movement of your pistol.
00:12:46.879 --> 00:12:50.320
Uh, there's several things uh programs out there.
00:12:50.559 --> 00:13:14.159
Mantis has a uh, I'll just throw them out there because uh they actually have a cool system that I'm looking that's kind of on my wish list to get is uh you attach it to your actual regular gun and it will track your gun's movement during the pressing of the trigger, so you'll actually see how bad or how much movement you have while you're pressing the trigger.
00:13:14.240 --> 00:13:16.879
Uh so that'll help out with with that.
00:13:16.960 --> 00:13:37.279
Uh you have cert pistols, the laser-activated pistols that will um are similar to the shape size of uh different firearms, and they use a a laser uh red dot whenever you press the trigger and it hits that break point, it'll throw a light up on your target, your wall, or whatever.
00:13:37.519 --> 00:13:39.360
And again, that's just for training.
00:13:39.440 --> 00:13:45.200
Uh the practicing your trigger press, your trigger reset, your site picture.
00:13:45.440 --> 00:13:52.799
And then um when we talk about dry fire options, you know, don't forget about just regular training.
00:13:52.960 --> 00:14:25.039
Get uh if you got somebody that's uh you're getting a gift for, and maybe they're looking at a particular class, you see that there's a shotgun class coming up or uh AR class coming up that someone's offering somewhere, and you've heard them talk about, hey, I really would like to take this class uh one day or a class on shotguns, and you know, you find one, get them a gift certificate or pay for their training, get them signed up, and um you know offer that to your your loved one.
00:14:25.200 --> 00:14:27.039
Uh I'll take all the training.
00:14:27.200 --> 00:14:33.200
Anybody wants to buy me training, uh, just email me and uh I'll I'll take the training if you want to pay for it.
00:14:33.840 --> 00:14:36.720
But uh no, all no seriousness.
00:14:36.799 --> 00:14:38.799
Uh dry fire and training.
00:14:38.960 --> 00:14:44.000
No, we we think about buying the holsters, guns, ammo, stuff like that.
00:14:44.159 --> 00:14:45.840
But uh don't forget the training.
00:14:46.000 --> 00:14:47.200
Training is real important.
00:14:47.519 --> 00:14:53.919
So um talking a little bit about targets and shooting supplies.
00:14:54.080 --> 00:14:58.639
Uh it's a good thing to buy the different targets.
00:14:58.799 --> 00:15:14.080
No, sometimes you can get reactive targets, uh, you can get the uh self-healing targets for uh plates and stuff that have the polymer, and then whenever you shoot it, they self-heal and you can use them repeatedly.
00:15:14.159 --> 00:15:18.720
Uh a lot safer than steel if you're in a close environment.
00:15:18.879 --> 00:15:32.320
But um just get them different uh training aids, uh snap caps, uh malfunction uh caps uh or ammo that uh simulates malfunctions for them to train with.
00:15:32.559 --> 00:15:40.159
And anything that you can do to help them better themselves is is a good thing for uh targets and shooting supplies.
00:15:40.240 --> 00:15:41.840
Uh don't forget a range bag.
00:15:42.320 --> 00:15:46.639
Occasionally uh range bags get old, dirty, especially if you use them a lot.
00:15:46.879 --> 00:15:56.960
Um maybe they got a loved one that needs uh earmuffs or safety glasses, or maybe they have prescription glasses and you want to get them a good pair of shooting glasses.
00:15:57.039 --> 00:16:09.440
They they make those uh that they can wear that are safety, but they are also prescription where they're not having to use their personal everyday prescription glasses uh for things.
00:16:09.600 --> 00:16:18.320
Uh painting kits, we can always use painting kits, go through solvents and stuff like that quite frequently if you shoot a lot.
00:16:18.559 --> 00:16:24.159
So yeah, that's uh pretty much all I can think of on just little things like that.
00:16:24.320 --> 00:16:32.159
Anything one of the things on the earmuffs uh, you know, that I have come to like is uh the electronics.
00:16:32.320 --> 00:16:32.720
Yeah.
00:16:32.960 --> 00:16:49.279
Um, you know, if you're gonna invest in a set of earmuffs, um the electronic ones are really something good to look at um because they cancel the noise so you can hear what's going on around you, but yet whenever it gets above a certain decibel level, yeah, it it cancels it.
00:16:49.440 --> 00:16:51.120
So that those are really nice.
00:16:51.200 --> 00:16:52.960
I I like the noise canceling it.
00:16:53.200 --> 00:17:03.600
And something else with the earmuffs, you have to consider are they you can get slim electronic earmuffs or even slim earmuffs, but are they shooting a rifle?
00:17:03.759 --> 00:17:05.279
Are they using it for handgun?
00:17:05.359 --> 00:17:22.240
Because some of the standard earmuffs that you get um are large, and if you're trying to shoot a rifle and you're leaning your head up against the stock for uh sight picture, makes it a little bit hard or difficult to use those larger earmuffs.
00:17:22.400 --> 00:17:35.599
Uh so you got the your slim electronic earmuffs, you even got some of the ones that sig, axle, and stuff that actually are like earbuds that fit in your ear and their noise canceling where you can actually hear.
00:17:35.759 --> 00:17:45.440
And some of them even have Bluetooth where you listen to music, answer a phone call and stuff while you're practicing practicing or or shooting and stuff.
00:17:45.599 --> 00:17:54.799
So yeah, that's absolutely absolutely and then the other thing um I like to discuss for a minute is you know apparel clothing.
00:17:54.960 --> 00:17:58.880
Um, one would be shoes.
00:17:59.039 --> 00:18:01.839
Um having a good comfortable pair of shoes, you know.
00:18:02.240 --> 00:18:06.480
Uh that might be something, you know, can stay at the range and on your feet all day.
00:18:06.640 --> 00:18:09.119
It it uh it's nice to have a nice pair of shoes.
00:18:09.359 --> 00:18:15.839
Yeah, and also are you know, are you uh do you frequent a indoor range a lot or do you frequent an outdoor range?
00:18:16.000 --> 00:18:31.680
Um that's the outdoor ranges are a little bit more rougher on shoes, so you may want to go to like a uh boot or something, uh, or or hiking shoe that's a little bit more durable than a uh just a regular everyday pair of shoes.
00:18:31.920 --> 00:18:39.920
And you know, a lot of the shoes for ranges, you know, they you have vary from the boot top shoe to the more like a running walking type shoe.
00:18:40.079 --> 00:18:40.240
Right.
00:18:40.400 --> 00:18:42.640
So you so there are a lot of options out there for that.
00:18:42.720 --> 00:18:46.880
Um another thing with apparel would be you know, as far as shooting would be bags.
00:18:47.039 --> 00:19:02.559
Um you know, having a good a good carry bag for the concealed carrier, um, maybe to carry a firearm or accessories or or other other just normal everyday things that a person might need need during the day.
00:19:02.799 --> 00:19:07.359
Um carrying multiple guns uh to the range, you know.
00:19:07.519 --> 00:19:14.640
Yeah, they have is it uh capable of uh storing multiple guns or um things like that?
00:19:14.720 --> 00:19:17.680
Uh are they take guns and a rifle?
00:19:17.759 --> 00:19:24.640
You know, you got your carry bags for your uh MSR and other rifles that you take to the range.
00:19:24.880 --> 00:19:38.720
So uh just depending on I guess depends on what the what they're carrying and what the the use is of case for or um bag for you know storage or for uh moving around with.
00:19:38.960 --> 00:19:46.079
Yeah, and I mean, and then you have your, you know, are you carrying it for your normal everyday carry defensive, or you is it your range bag?
00:19:46.160 --> 00:20:10.559
I mean, but all that's important, or or um, you know, maybe even jackets, you know, thinking about stuff like jackets, pants, but those are just some of the things with the bags and the shoes that I think are important that a lot of times we don't think about enough, but they're they're important to the everyday carrier and even going to the range, um, having a knife bag, having having a decent pair of shoes.
00:20:10.640 --> 00:20:10.799
Yeah.
00:20:11.039 --> 00:20:21.920
Well, talking about apparel, uh most of the time, I know whenever I give classes, I tell people don't wear loose-fitting clothing uh just because you don't want that, especially at an indoor range.
00:20:22.000 --> 00:20:34.160
If a casing hits the wall and then bounces into uh your between your shirt and your skin, your body, uh, that's a hot piece of brass that's uh gonna burn and sting a little bit.
00:20:34.319 --> 00:20:44.240
So you know try to wear not tight fitting clothes, but snug fitting clothes to help prevent uh any of that from you know occurring.
00:20:44.400 --> 00:20:50.000
Uh the casing going a shirt down your back, uh in between your glasses.
00:20:50.079 --> 00:20:52.160
If you wear glasses, I've had that happen.
00:20:52.319 --> 00:20:56.720
So just some things to think about for apparel.
00:20:57.920 --> 00:20:58.720
Yeah, absolutely.
00:20:58.960 --> 00:21:02.720
And now, um I guess we'll discuss gun storage.
00:21:02.799 --> 00:21:13.359
Yeah, um, this is one of the most often, I feel like one of the over one of the more overlooked um side of the concealed carrier, right?
00:21:13.599 --> 00:21:15.279
Firearm enthusiasts, yeah.
00:21:15.440 --> 00:21:22.880
Um, is you have all these nice firearms and maybe even some expensive firearms, right?
00:21:23.039 --> 00:21:24.400
But what how are we storing them?
00:21:24.480 --> 00:21:25.359
What are we storing them in?
00:21:25.440 --> 00:21:32.559
I mean, there's different kinds of storage, you know, at home when we're on the run, or I mean, or on the on the go in our vehicles.
00:21:32.720 --> 00:21:35.119
Um so we're gonna talk a little bit about storage.
00:21:35.200 --> 00:21:35.440
Mr.
00:21:35.519 --> 00:21:37.279
Brian, your thoughts on on storage?
00:21:37.599 --> 00:21:40.960
Yeah, uh storage is you know, there's a lot of different options.
00:21:41.119 --> 00:21:51.039
Uh, like you touched on, the depending on what you're doing, uh, where you're at, it's gonna play a part into your uh storage capability or options.
00:21:51.119 --> 00:21:56.480
Uh, so let's uh talk briefly about what are the different types of storage.
00:21:56.720 --> 00:21:59.359
Um there are there.
00:21:59.440 --> 00:22:14.160
You know, you've got your your gun cases or gun cabinets, uh, which could be a stand-up cabinet or it could be a uh just a locking shelf uh box uh that stores a gun.
00:22:14.480 --> 00:22:23.359
Got that all really all that's all it does is it offers uh limited access uh ability to that firearm.
00:22:23.519 --> 00:22:45.680
It's not really a rated for all even though it may be that's not really rated for uh major theft or fire damage or anything like that, but uh got your cases, cabinets, uh I mean cabinets, and then you got your gun storage uh vaults or or cases, uh your safes basically.
00:22:45.839 --> 00:23:04.559
Uh so you got those, and those offer usually more storage capability, they offer a greater uh uh protection against theft, and then they're also fire rated for 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the the actual rating.
00:23:04.720 --> 00:23:06.720
Those are some things that you need to be aware of.
00:23:06.880 --> 00:23:20.480
But uh you got your those safes that uh are larger typically and for your your home to home storage, but they do have also some small safes sometimes for the vehicles.
00:23:20.640 --> 00:23:34.400
Uh you got some of the ones that fit in your consoles, you got some that fit in the headrest of vehicles, uh, some that fit underneath the secure to the car under a seat or in a glove box.
00:23:34.960 --> 00:23:42.400
So um that's pretty much the different types of uh uh storage uh capabilities that we have.
00:23:42.559 --> 00:23:46.079
Uh you got some things that you want to talk on storage?
00:23:47.519 --> 00:23:54.000
Um I think you covered it pretty good, but uh you know I think an important thing is uh just understanding, like Mr.
00:23:54.079 --> 00:23:59.920
Bryan said, the difference between the the cabinet and the space and what is your intended purpose here.
00:24:00.000 --> 00:24:09.519
If you're just looking for a place to secure your firearm with easy, with uh you know limited access, but if you do need to access it and get to it quick, then a then a cabinet might be good.
00:24:09.599 --> 00:24:15.680
If you're looking for something to secure it fire, then you you definitely want to go with a safe.
00:24:15.759 --> 00:24:20.240
And if you know if you are concerned about theft, really concerned, then you then you may want to go with a safe as well.
00:24:20.319 --> 00:24:23.279
So it really depends on what you're looking for.
00:24:23.519 --> 00:24:42.400
Um and you can get anything as far as size, you can get everything from a little like fault safe to hold a handgun that that you're you can access with your fingerprints or or like a keypad or lockbox to uh big you know 20 or 30 gun, say yeah.
00:24:42.559 --> 00:24:47.519
Um so there's there's a plethora of options out there.
00:24:47.839 --> 00:24:50.880
Yeah, and some something else on the home side of it.
00:24:51.039 --> 00:24:58.400
Uh you know, if you've got a gun that you're using for your home defense gun and that's all it is, uh your nightstand gun.
00:24:58.559 --> 00:25:06.559
Uh unless you're the only one in the home, uh I'm not really up for just leaving a gun stored somewhere.
00:25:06.720 --> 00:25:30.319
You know, have it some so usually you want to have it secured somehow, but they make some great nightstand bolts uh that you can attach to your either your bed, your headboard, or even to the nightstand that uh usually are either biometric, uh they are key coded, or you know, security pin number that you put in there to open it up.
00:25:30.480 --> 00:25:46.960
And a lot of these nightstand ones now are having where you can have a integrated clock with it, uh charging capabilities for these uh uh phones that uh either use a USB or the quick charge without a cable.
00:25:47.200 --> 00:25:49.279
So uh those are some options too.
00:25:49.440 --> 00:26:14.960
If you you know look if your husband or spouse or significant significant other uh are interested in something like a nightstand or or bedside uh storage capability, and then also finishing up, I guess, on the storage, just because you have a safe uh cabinet or whatever, think about uh humidity control.
00:26:15.279 --> 00:26:58.480
Humidity is uh uh enemy to firearms and ammunition, so you need to make sure you have some sort of um dehumidifier, which they make some that you plug into uh electric outlet that dries out, and then you just throw it into your cabinet or safe, and periodically you just take it out, plug it back up to dry out the moisture beads on it, and then there are some that actually have a dehumidifier built into it that uh plugs into the wall, and you don't have to worry about taking them and drying out the dehumidifier, the microbeads, because it automatically does that, and then also uh lighting issues for the safes.
00:26:58.799 --> 00:27:17.759
Uh a lot of safes now you can either buy lights with it already or buy attachments to where whenever you open up the safe, it's got a motion sensor that it comes on for a short period of time to allow you to access uh whatever you need in the safe without getting a flashlight or mounting a light in there.
00:27:17.920 --> 00:27:26.640
So um those are just some options whenever we're talking about uh storage, um, things to consider with the dehumidifier and lights.
00:27:26.799 --> 00:27:30.000
Um that's pretty much it.
00:27:30.079 --> 00:27:32.400
Uh anything else you you got, David?
